what i'm reading

I read a lot. I'm always reading. I read myself to sleep every night. I read on the bus and subway. I even read walking down the sidewalk if I'm too enthralled to stop when the subway reaches my station. I figure it's such a big part of my life, I should journal what I'm reading. Here goes.

The Concrete Sky by Marshall Moore

Marshall is my friend msminpdx, and this is his first novel. I'm about 3 chapters into it. FUN! I haven't figured out what it's about yet, but it seems like the sort of thing Oscar Wilde would write if he was around today.

On Writing by Stephen King

Reading about how to write from one of the most successful authors of our time. I just cracked the cover, I don't know if I'll be bored or enrapt.

The Origin of Conscioiusness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind by Julian Jaynes

I've wanted to read this for years. Now it seems to be taking me years to read it.

Just finished:

Moving Mars by Greg Bear

I read this when it first hit paperback a few years ago. It was good on the re-read too.

A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge

Also a good re-read.

You rock. Now I'm blushing furiously.

To anyone who's reading this, and cares, I did not bribe him to make him say that, honest...

When I wrote that, I was thinking of the scenes of Dorian Grey's burgeoning depravity. Really :-P
