Oh yeah, I guess I have a journal thing. I haven't felt much like journaling the last couple months. Not sure what to chalk it up to. Eh.

Anyway, I do have something worth sharing. I start a new job tomorrow. I'm joining a startup founded by a friend of mine. I'm going to be doing web development, and since it's a small startup I'm sure I'll get to wear a few other hats too. It seems like it's going to be a great place to work, and has lots of upside potential.

This afternoon I went to my friend Brian's bday party. It was a 60s theme party, so we were all dressed in tie-dye and stuff. Walking through the castro with friends all of us in our outfits we were passed by a 60s era VW Bug covered painted with flowers. We all yelled "Peace, man!" and gave the peace sign. The driver waved back too. Far out.

I think I'll take Caltrain to work tomorrow. (Work is on the peninsual for a couple months until we get office space in SF.) I wonder how much of a pain it's going to be to get to Caltrain on MUNI.

Getting to Caltrain from the Castro blows. You can either take the N line all the way there, which can take 45 minutes. The other way is to catch an underground to Powell and then catch a bus (or walk or walk until you see a bus coming) down to the station. This latter method is faster.

The problem Scott and I have is getting to the Muni station and having *no* trains come for a long time.. and the platform becomes packed, and when it does come, you can't fit. It's happened to us twice now .. the first time, we took a cab. The second time, I wound up driving to the 22nd Street caltrain station and parking there.

Riding a bike to the Caltrain Depot is faster than Muni. I'm waiting for them to finish building the bike vault, so I have a safe place to lock it up.

I used to take my bike on the train when I did the commute to San Mateo a few years ago. I'd do that again since it's a very short ride on the other end for this place too, but I'm doing some physical therapy for my knee and I can't ride my bike right now, darnit. I'm thining about driving to 22nd and parking there, which I used to do when I took the train to Cupertino. But then I can't easily get a ride home from one of my many co-workers who live in SF. Sigh. I used to take a K/L/M from Castro to Powell to catch the 15/45 down 4th for a commute. I guess that's not too bad to go to Caltrain, though the timing is so iffy. I'm gonna have to figure out some carpool arrangements soon!
