Today was the first really gorgeous day we've had in San Francisco this year. We've had sunny and warm before, but not sunny and warm without gale force winds. To celebrate, I went shopping!

I took the F-line streetcar down to Union Square to meet up with my friend K. He was trying on jeans at Levi's, and I managed to figure out which booth he was in just by using my gaydar. "Gay shoes visible under the curtain? Must be him!" We bopped around a few places - Agnes B. had the best stuff for our slim European builds, and man was I tempted to buy a $1000 suit there even though I have no use for one. Maybe after I find work again, heh. I did find a nice tie at Macy's marked down from $40 to $10, so my Grandmother's ghost has been mollified for the moment. Neither of use found much else worth buying, except I got a nice microphone at the Apple store so I can pretend I'm a radio personality and record podcasts for my adoring fans.

My timing was rocking today, so I caught another F-line back to the Castro. The same one in fact, and since the coin box was broken I got both rides down and back for free. That almost made up for the incredibly stinky man sitting in the seat next to me (I got up and moved after deciding I couldn't hold my breath for another 17 blocks). I stopped to pick up a few things at the market on the way home, and ran into a friend I hadn't seen in about 2 years because he has moved away. He's back in SF now and seems to be a good space, which makes me quite happy. It's weird how I've been thinking about him a lot the last few days and suddenly I run into him. Life, go figure.

On the bummer side of things, someone I worked with for 2 years at my last job died on Friday. He'd been in a car accident and had been in a coma for a week. No one knows why he crashed since he never woke up to tell the tale. Dan was a good man and a good friend at work, one of those people who it's hard to find something bad to say about him. If the funeral isn't on my birthday (next weekend) I'll probably go.

Speaking of freak accidents, my uncle's 18 year old daughter fell out of a tree last week and landed on her face. She has to have like five surgeries to repair her nose, her eye, her orbital bone, etc. But gods bless her she got all dressed up and went to her senior prom this weekend, wearing bandages and everything. I really hope they can pull a Jaime Sommers with her face, she's such a pretty girl it would be a shame if she was scarred or disfigured.

OK, enough of the morbid stuff. I'm in a happy mood and feeling good. By the way, this Shangri-La diet seems to be working well too. I finally bought a scale so maybe in a week I'll have numbers that mean something.

My birthday is next weekend. I guess this calls for some cocktails or something.
