fracking
I'm over my cold, and it's a nice weekend out. Went and did some shopping/errands in the hood, ran into a cute friend who is recently single and flirted a bit. Now I need to come up with some plans for tonight - wasn't sure if I'd be up to anything but now I'm all perky so I want to make hay.

Oh yeah, I'm sort of enjoying the detour into character development and background that Battlestar Galactica has taken recently, though I'm looking forward to a return to advancing the story arc again. But poor Apollo - that guy has the most fracked-up sex life in the fleet! Gotta say the Stargate shows haven't been up to snuff of late. I'm glad they will retire SG-1 after this season - it's about run its course. And if Atlantis doesn't pick up soon I fear for the franchise.

On the reading front, I just started Olympos by Dan Simmons. I read Illium last month, but didn't want to wait for the sequel to come out in paperback so I splurged and got the hardback so I could read it right away. I really liked Illium, especially since I was such a nut for Greek mythology when I was a kid. By the way, Illium makes much more sense if you've read his short story "The 9th of Av" (and vice-versa too).

I just finished reading the Hyperion Cantos for the 2nd time. They can be a bit heavy in places, but definitely worth the effort. There's an epilogic short story you can read afterwards in his collection Worlds Enough and Time, which also contains the prequel to Illium/Olympos. I haven't read Hollow Man yet, I'll have to put it on my list.
