It's just after noon on Thanksgiving, and I'm feeling nice and mellow. What am I thankful for? A four day weekend
Yesterday I made my mom's cranberry mould recipe, and it's looking mighty tasty chilling in my fridge now. In a few hours I'll venture the 6 blocks to my friend Brian's house for his holiday orphans dinner. I went there last year
and had a lovely time. Oops, re-reading that entry I realized he serves dinner early so I'd better get dressed soon!
I've spent the morning playing sudoku - I solved a hard one in 14:29, which surprised the hell out of me. My top time for a medium is about 7:30. I'm starting to learn how to solve the ambiguous ones better. I've also been watching some Buffy episodes - this complete collection rocks!
I talked to my mom last night. There's lots of snow back home. I'm so glad I didn't fly back for the big family thing - holiday travel is the last thing I need right now. Last night I watched the news and there was a big thing about the nasty weather and how travel will suck donkey lincolns. Poor holiday travelers! As I look out my window at a lovely SF day, I can only smirk with a smidgen of schadenfreude.
I'm hoping to see a couple movies this long weekend. I'll probably go see Harry Potter
with Brian, and I'd like to see Rent
and Pride & Prejudice
. I want to see Narnia
and Brokeback Mountain
when they come out too.
This evening I'll probably be missing my family. Thanksgiving dinners at home were one of the best parts of growing up. Now, Thanksgiving dinner is the easiest way to grow, period.
