adding insult to insult

I've been helping my dad out by building a website for him and his side business. I told him he didn't need to pay me for it. Gods know I get tons of free medical care from him. I certainly don't feel like he needs to pay me for my professional services. It's all in the family, right?

Over the weekend I got a letter from him, and it included a check. The memo read "for website." The amount? $200.

So lets see, should I be insulted that he felt he had to pay me for helping him out, even though I told him I didn't want any money from him for it? Or should I be insulted because he paid me a fraction of what the work was worth? It's too damn funny.

Just say to him, in a casual and friendly way, "Well, I didn't want to accept any money for the work at all, since you're my dad. But since $200 is so much less than I would ask anyone else for the work, I guess I can accept it..."

Or something like that.

If this keeping in his character, I would just chalk it up to dad being dad and let it go.

If its not, I would still just let it go. Not worth the stess.

Go buy yourself something pretty ;)

Oh, I'm not stressing over it. I just find it amusing.

Something pretty... any suggestions?

Ahh the amusing part I get. Not as much as you cause I have no clue how much web work is worth but yeah that sounds like some a dad would do.

A new winter scarf and gloves? A new box set of Voyager? A weekend at the spa? Do those work?

I think a healthly mix of both would be appropiate.
