I just opened my box from Amazon containing Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Chosen Collection. It's 40 dvd discs containing 144 episodes and gobs of extra material, some brand new and not available anywhere else. And the sounds has been redone as Dolby 2.1, which makes me very happy.
The packaging is very slick - every centimeter of it screams "labor of love!" There's a personal note from Joss Whedon, then a booklet listing the dvd contents with a brief description of every episode, and a list of Joss' 12 favorite episodes (plus explanations of why). The box unfolds not unlike the sarcophagus of The Judge, and inside is a portrait of Buffy (with the Scoobies behind her) assembled from images on the stacked spines of the folders of the 7 seasons (also not unlike the assembled Judge).
My personal challenge will be to not let this collection destroy the rest of this year. I have to remember to leave the house and do other things!
