I think things are breaking down at Central Casting. Perhaps it is the unending need for refugees and displaced people, or merely just increased demand for countless bland faces to appear on reality shows. At any rate, yesterday was a new low for them. I had to do some errands around the Castro at a couple times during the day, and wherever I went I kept running into the same four people, over the course of the whole day! One guy I saw in the store, then a half hour later he was walking home right in front of me and stopped in front of my driveway to say hi. Then the guy at the Mailboxes place who took my package to ship in the morning was in the taqueria in the evening getting a burrito. They even had to use a couple of old friends who I hadn't seen in years to fill in for random strangers.

Some new management is in order over there. The Illuminati need to get their fnord act together. Saving George Bush's presidency isn't the only thing they should be worrying about!

I've been noticing the same thing. It must be Katrina and the need for lots of people to play the various stereotyped roles the news media report over and over. The plucky independents, the suffering poor, the incompetent bureaucrat, the can-do military guy, and so on.
