I schlepped my ass down to the courthouse this morning, doctor's note in hand, only to discover on my arrival that the case had been settled yesterday afternoon and we were all dismissed. Oy. Oh well. As long as I was already halfway there, I bopped over to the Metreon to see if there was a line yet for the noon show of Revenge of the Sith. At 9:20am there were already 3 geeks wearing black in line. Not being in the first three meant I didn't have to live with that ignominy, but I still got us great line placement.
William showed up around 10am, and some guys from work a bit after that. Since it was my birthday I decided I would finally say fuck people watching and play DDR for the first time ever. William and I went head to head, and I kicked his ass 3 out of 3. First time a white boy beat a black boy dancing? Maybe! It's all in the hips! So it was pretty fun, but harder than I thought it would be to get all the timing and foot-eye coordination down. Though once I got in a groove I did really well. Maybe I'll have to get one of those play-at-home systems so I can entertain myself without people snickering at me.
Sith was both better and worse than I hoped and expected. The story was actually good, and it avoided the usual Lucas juvenile poisons like ewoks and little kids. But the dialog was pretty bad in most cases. However the sheer gorgeousness of the filmwork more than made up for that. And I'm really glad I watched the Clone Wars animated epidode 2.5 - it helped understand what the heck was going on. By the way, the DLP digital movie system was just OMG fucking beautiful.
I'm going to take a little nap now so I'm fresh for my birthday dinner tonight.
