I went with micahblitz
to see Fahrenheit 9/11
this afternoon. Wow, and god bless Michael Moore. The entire theater burst into applause at the end of the film, which you just don't see here in SF at any movie. Ever.
A few things that impressed me: Footage of American soldiers "abusing" prisoners, taken long before the whole prison torture scandal erupted in recent months. The scale of the involvement of Saudi money in the American economy and the Bush family dealings. Al Gore's strength of character, and Bush's total lack thereof. Bush in 1992 going on record about how being the president's son gave him access which gave him respect and power. The poor soldiers who have suffered and died fighting a pointless war, and still do so today.
I'm even more furious at BushCo than I was before, hard as that may be to believe. But I'm also pissed at the spineless Democrats who just rolled over and let Bush fuck them, the country, and the world. Out of 40-some Democratic senators, not a single one (including Kerry) would sign a complaint against certifying the fraudulent 2000 election results. Kerry himself is no prize, but he's the best hope we have for getting Bush out of the White House and reclaiming our country.
Can we please start talking about election reform and public campaign financing?
